No problem! We offer introductory group and private lessons designed specifically for beginners. Our instructors guide you step by step to ensure you feel confident and safe.
What is the minimum age for lessons? +
We welcome archers ages 12 and up. Younger participants may be considered on a case-by-case basis; please contact us to discuss your child's readiness and experience.
How do I know if archery is right for me or my child? +
Archery is great for all ages and abilities! If you have concerns about physical limitations, focus, or safety, reach out to discuss options. We can suggest the right course or private lesson plan to meet your needs.

Booking & Scheduling

Can I book private (one on one) lessons? +
Yes! Private lessons are available for all skill levels and can be tailored to your personal goals, schedule, and progression. Contact us to arrange a time with an instructor.
How do I cancel or reschedule? +
You can manage your booking through the confirmation email link or by logging into your Acuity account. Please notify us as soon as possible if you need to change your booking.
How early should I arrive for my lesson? +
Please arrive 10–15 minutes early to allow time for check-in, equipment setup, and safety briefing.

Equipment & Facilities

What should I bring to my lesson? +
All archery equipment is provided in the *Discover* and *Explore* courses. If you have your own gear, our instructors will check it for safety and suitability. - Owning your own equipment is recommended for *Refine* and required for all other programs. - Dress for outdoor activity: closed-toe, flat-heeled shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you may need to keep comfortable outdoors.
Where do outdoor sessions take place and what facilities are available? +
Most programs (May–September) run at Royal City Bowmen — 5329 Wellington County Rd, Guelph, ON. - Fully outdoor archery range - No electricity or running water, and no shelter - Ground may be muddy after rain; insects common in warmer months - Bring water, sun protection, and insect repellent
Can I use my own equipment? +
Yes! We encourage participants to bring personal bows and arrows once they reach *Refine* or above. Instructors will ensure your gear is safe and suitable for the lesson.

Safety & Policies

What is the weather and cancellation policy? +
Lessons run rain or shine unless there is severe weather (storms, lightning, unsafe conditions). - If a session is canceled, registered participants will be notified by email and an attempt will be made to reschedule. - For non-severe conditions, plan for outdoor activity and dress accordingly.
Do parents/guardians need to stay during lessons? +
Yes. Parents or guardians must remain on-site during all lessons for minors. This ensures safety and allows instructors to communicate directly with you if needed.
Are lessons safe for beginners? +
Absolutely! Safety is our top priority. Our instructors are NCCP certified and are trained in proper technique, equipment handling, and risk management. We maintain strict range safety rules for all participants.
What if I have a physical limitation or injury? +
We can modify techniques and equipment to accommodate most limitations. Contact us beforehand to discuss your needs.

Program Progression

How do I know which program to join next? +
We offer a structured pathway from beginner to advanced levels. Your instructor can recommend the next course based on your skill, comfort, and progression goals.
How long does it take to progress in archery? +
Progress depends on frequency, focus, and practice. Many archers see noticeable improvement after a few weeks, while competitive readiness may take months to years.
Are there opportunities to compete? +
Yes! Advanced courses (Compete, Perform, Excel) include competition preparation and skill-building, and we can guide you toward local, provincial, and national events.

Pricing & Payment

How much do lessons cost? +
Prices vary by program and format and are in line with similar programming at other locations in the area. Please check our Services page for up-to-date rates. Private lessons have separate pricing.
Do you offer packages or memberships? +
No. But it is something we're looking in to.
What payment methods are accepted? +
We accept all major credit cards and some digital payment methods through Stripe on our booking platform.
