Stormpeak Shines at Canada Cup West

June 9, 2024

Over the weekend, our team travelled to the Canadian Mennonite University in Winnipeg, MB for the Canada Cup West. The competition spanned three days, beginning Friday afternoon with official practice and an optional 720. The conditions leading up to the event were extremly went, but thankfully the clouds parted and graced the event with mainly sunny skies and breezy conditions all weekend.

Saturday begain with qualifying, which saw Stephanie leading the women, Norman sitting in 6th on the men's side, and the pair ranking 3rd as a mixed team. Head to head eliminations came next with the mixed team winning their quater and semifinal round matches 6-0. Then, in the gold final, they prevailed 5-1 (33-33, 36-35, 34-31) against the top seeded team of Eleanor Brug and Greg Moore from BC.

In the individual elimination rounds, Norman fought well, but faced a tough matchup with Aaron Cox, ultimately loosing 6-0. Stephanie had a bye through the quaterfinals, and opened her semifinal match a little shakey through the first two ends, but closed strong, taking the match 6-0 and moving to the gold final vs Eleanor Brug. Continuing her momentum, Stephanie began the match with two perfect 30s, and with the nerves mounting closed the match with a 23, narrowly taking the set and the match 6-0.

Congratulations to the team, bringing home gold in the Recurve Mixed Team and Recurve Individual Women categories!
